Meredith + Paulo’s Morristown, NJ Wedding

Meredith and Paulo’s wedding represented two great things for me this summer. First, was the first wedding ALL summer that wasn’t well over 90 degrees! Second, it was the last in the row of eight extremely busy weeks of weddings. I love photographing weddings but a few weeks off will be a nice opportunity to reflect on my work so far, relax with my family, and become a better photographer as a result!

Meredith and Paulo came to me thanks to my friend Vicki Gansner and it was fun to have Vicki and her whole family as guests at the wedding. Meredith and Paulo were so relaxed and it made the long day go by in a flash. Here is a snapshot of their day, enjoy…

Quick turn around of my favorites this time…

Meredith proclaimed herself as a “Daddy’s girl” and loved her attention to detail to make sure he looked perfect

Paulo wanted to check out every angle…

Hi everyone!

Our little ring bearer didn’t stand still much of the day, but this time he did

I still have to ask Meredith what she was looking at during this…obviously not paying attention

Now THAT is a hug! Mothers of the bride and groom

Elation…part ceremony being over and the fun bag piper!

No idea what was going on, blurry a little, but cracked me up

Wow a moment to themselves…with everyone watching

And here is everyone that was watching Paulo and his Mom…

One of their last dances…love it!

Best of 2009 Contest

Admittedly, I got this idea from another photographer, but it seemed like it would be a ton of fun. Below is the voting booth to select the best moments from 2009. This was REALLY hard for me to pick one image from each wedding in 2009…REALLY hard! There are a mix of fun, emotional, serious, portraits, and all sorts of image types.

So, each wedding from 2009 has one image and the image that gets the most votes wins. The first place winner gets a 16×20 canvas print from their wedding and a $100 $200 Visa gift card. The second and third place images will each receive a $50 $100 Visa gift card.

Here are the rules and how it works:
- Voting runs from Saturday, January 23 to Friday, February 12
- You can only vote once per computer
- Results are not shown and will be announced Wednesday, February 17
- Make sure you leave a comment below to attract more votes to your favorite images!

MAKE SURE TO CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO MAKE IT LARGER!

UPDATE: Almost 400 votes already! Holy cow! Keep them coming still plenty of time to vote!
UPDATE 2: WOW almost 500 votes after one week! I HAVE RAISED THE PRIZES!

Ahhh film…

I might be part of a dieing breed of photographers that still use film as part of the wedding experience. While the majority of what I shoot is digital, I still shoot a few rolls of black and white film, and sometimes color film, at weddings. You might be thinking…wait can’t you just do that with Photoshop with digital images? Yes, to a certain extent, and if you like sitting in front of the computer for long hours editing images to look like film.

I prefer the method of actually shooting film. The way I am able to make it happen, is with the help of Philadelphia Photographics. One of the last professional labs left in the Philadelphia region. The process the old school way and are amazing. So, instead of spending hours at the computer, I drop my rolls of film off at Philly Photographic and they develop and scan the film, than mail it back to me. Pretty awesome!

Homeless artist…

Most of my friends will tell you I am a bit of a cynic (what GenXer isn’t a bit of a cynic) but I had to share a story from my softer side. Maybe it will motivate you a little…or you may think I am naive and silly. But last night I was helping Heather (one of my assistant photographers) take some old film developing equipment to her house. As we drove along 202 I saw this man riding a bicycle along the road with a large sign on it which I couldn’t see well enough to read.

He looked homeless and the bike was towing a caravan of stuff. I then was able to see that he had another bike a few hundred feet behind him. I quickly realized that he was riding one bike forward a few hundred feet, then walking back to his other bike, and repeating this to move along. After we dropped the equipment off at Heather’s house I drove home and sure enough he was still peddling along. Although he had only moved about a quarter of a mile in about 15 minutes.

This time I was able to read the sign he had on his bike. It read “Homeless artist…” and went on to mention other facts about who he was. There were art pieces hanging from the side of the bike that he was trying to sell. So I decided to run home and grab some supplies for this man and the rolled spare change that has been sitting and collecting for probably a few years.

Larisa & Bill’s Excellent Engagement Adventure

Sorry for the title…child of the 80′s couldn’t resist the movie reference (for anyone not familiar watch Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure)…anyway…Larisa and Bill are set to get hitched in December at The Mendenhall Inn. We spent about an hour wandering around West Chester borough and found a great location…the drain below an alley, inside a parking garage…yeah that’s right. I am always looking for unusual locations that have great light…and give different looks…to go along with some of the traditional stuff your parents love…
