Favorite images?

So I am going through the last 18 months of weddings to pick out some new favorites for the website and a new website with some colleagues in the area. So, whether you were a bride, groom, parent, family, or friend, let me know your favorites that I have captured over the past year and a half.

Who knows you might end up on the front of the website soon!

Learning some cool flash stuff…

Monday I spent the day with a cool dude, Neil van Niekerk who is a master of flash photography. Definitely helped me with one simple statement that made it all click. After that learning moment I could have left…however I payed some nice money and I thought spending only an hour was a little silly.

And here are a few quick pics from the day…Keyona and Lauren were a ton of fun!

Sandy & Joe’s wedding in Philadelphia and King of Prussia

Sandy & Joe had an amazing day on Saturday and here are a few from the day. The day started at St. John the Baptist Church which was absolutely stunning and maybe the most beautiful church in the Philadelphia area. They also had a really cool bagpipe player outside the church as the guests arrived. After the ceremony we headed out to Valley Forge National Park for some fun bridal party pictures then to the Park Ridge Hotel in King of Prussia.

For more images check out their slideshow HERE!

Now does Sandy look like a princess or what!?

Wedding planning in tough economic times

Today’s stock market news, down close to 800 points at about 3 PM, isn’t the most inspiring to any couple planning a wedding and especially to anyone paying for a wedding. There will be lots of wedding magazine’s that pop up with tips on planning a wedding in tough economic times with lots of suggestions and ideas.

Many of those ideas will be amazing and save you lots and lots of money.  One idea may not pan out as well as it may initially seem…finding a friend with a camera to take pictures at your wedding. Here is how this plan can work if you go that route…

1. Make sure they have taken pictures at a wedding before when it counted. It is your day, and you want to make sure that NOTHING goes wrong.

2. Make sure they are using a camera and lenses that will give you the best possible results. Most less expensive digital SLR cameras are too slow to capture the fast action at a wedding.

3. Make sure that if something goes wrong that you are okay without having all the best images from your wedding day. I have always been told not to mix family or friends with business cause if something goes wrong it ain’t gonna be pretty!

So, many will have already said okay, this may not be the best idea ever to have a friend shoot my wedding. So how can you make wedding photography more affordable? Well it may not be as difficult as you may think. Here are a couple ideas that you will see from some photographers, and will certainly see from SingleExposure Photography.

1. Register for your album with your photographer. The proof site which all your proofs will be uploaded with SingleExposure, includes a feature where you can register for pages in your album, extra time for me to cover your wedding, or just about anything else related to your photography package.

2. Use a credit card to spread the payments of your package out over time. Once your retainer or initial payment is done inquire about using a credit card to make monthly payments instead of big lump payments. I have set up several couples with monthly payments to make the blow a little less when it comes to writing that check.

3. Plan your wedding day to have all the important events covered by the photographer without lots and lots of hours. You can accomplish this by having your ceremony and reception at one location, even getting ready at the same location.

So these are just a couple ideas that may work for you when planning your wedding. Remember that the one thing you will have forever, and to pass down to your kids, are the pictures from your wedding. Why make the one lasting thing be the thing you take the biggest risks!

Phillies Playoff Game…

Although I am a Red Sox fan if I had to pick a National League team to cheer for it has to be the Phillies. Plus I LOVE baseball and it was awesome to see my first playoff game yesterday. And the Phillies won. Here is a fun panorama of our seats for the game. Hope they make the NLCS cause my seats are in section 107! If they make the series seats in 107 again! Pretty easy to make this pano with Photoshop and the files from my G9.
